The Challenge
Kinder Joy Academy needed to handle a scenario that their current attendance system did not account for: a dual biometric/RFID card system, with one card for the student and another for the parent, presented together for safe pickup and drop. They also needed a more user-friendly mobile experience for homework and an immediate view of any pending fees on the dashboard after login.
What We Did
1. Custom Biometric Attendance Logic
The school issues two cards per student — one carried by the student and one by the parent who picks them up. The gap in the system was that when the parent's card was scanned for pickup verification, the system had no way of noting that the student was present. We customized the Biometric Attendance module so a parent-card scan now marks the linked student as present, closing that gap. Additionally, we set up Meta-verified WhatsApp notifications, so parents receive an instant, verified message the moment either card is scanned.
2. Homework Module UI Overhaul
The school found the homework section of the Mobile App difficult to navigate. We redesigned the Homework module's UI to be cleaner and more intuitive. The updated design was so successful that it has since been deployed and is now used across all schools on the platform, not just Kinder Joy Academy.
3. Pending Fees on Mobile Dashboard
Parents previously had to navigate into the fees section to see any pending dues. We added a summary of pending fees to the student's mobile dashboard, powered by the Fees Management module, so the outstanding amount is visible the moment a parent logs in.
The Outcome
Kinder Joy Academy now has an attendance system that reflects how families actually use the dual-card pickup process, instant WhatsApp confirmation for parents, and a mobile experience that is simpler for both homework tracking and fee visibility. The Homework UI improvement built for them has since become the standard experience for every school on the platform.
