The Challenge

Bengal Public School wanted student discounts to be applied differently from the standard approach. Previously, discounts were only applied at the time of fee collection, but the school wanted discounts locked in for the full 12-month period right from the start of the session, with every report reflecting the discounted amount from day one. They also wanted the flexibility to manually trigger fee due reminders whenever needed, rather than relying solely on the automatic schedule.

What We Did

1. Upfront, Full-Session Discount Structure
Instead of applying a discount only at the point of collection, we modified the Fees Management module so a student's discount is set at the very beginning of the session and applied consistently across all 12 months. We updated all related reports so every collection, due, and outstanding figure is calculated with the discount already factored in, giving the school accurate numbers from month one instead of only after collection.

2. Manual Fee Due Reminders
The school already had automatic fee due reminders in place but wanted the option to manually trigger a reminder whenever they chose to, for example, ahead of a specific event or deadline. We added a manual trigger for Fee Due Reminders, giving the school's staff control over sending reminders on-demand, in addition to the existing automated schedule.

The Outcome

Bengal Public School now has full-session discounts that reflect accurately across every report from the start, and the flexibility to send fee reminders manually whenever the school needs to, alongside the existing automatic reminders.
